Pearl of the Month - January 2022
Ringing in the New Year
2021 has been a difficult year for all, with many things we would like to let go of and forget. Many of us find ourselves in unchartered territory as we try to navigate and develop new coping strategies for the stormy, unfamiliar waves in our lives. As we reflect on this past year it is easy to come up with the negative challenges that have been presented to us. When Covid first hit, we thought that couples would have a more difficult time, home bound together, being more reactive with each other due to the stress caused by close quarters and not having the natural breaks from one another supplied by working apart. Yet we are in awe at the discussions that many of our couples have been having in the midst of this turmoil. The appreciation and gratitude for their partner and the comfort of being in a relationship with someone to co-captain the ship on this journey. We have been forced to slow down, pause and be given an opportunity to reflect on not only what we have lost but what we have had all along and gained along the way. Couples are having more frequent and meaningful conversations with each other which have brought them closer. As another challenging year draws to a close, we hope you are able to reflect on the parts of your relationship that you are ready to release and let go of and that you do not want to forget, the parts you want to grow and keep alive. One way to do this is to set an intention each month for your relationship. We applaud you all for your hard work and courage during this time. We wish you a Happy New Year hoping it will be filled with much love, peace, joy and good health! Stay safe!
